Grappling & BJJ Tournaments

The North American Grappling Association (NAGA) hosts submission grappling and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu tournaments throughout North America. These events are a great way to compete and meet new people.

Competitors are split into different weight divisions, skill levels and age categories. These divisions are designed to ensure a fair competition.

Youth, Teen, Adult, Masters, Director and Executive divisions are available for competitors at all levels of experience. NAGA uses a unique skill level system that allows you to enter a specific division based on your total grappling experience, not just what you’ve trained in at the tournament.

Novice: 6 months to 2 years of total grappling experience. Beginner: 2 to 5 years of total grappling experience, Intermediate: 5 to 10 years of total grappling experience and Expert: over 10 years of total grappling experience.

In addition to the divisions, each event will have a variety of awards for winners. These awards include championship belts, custom engraved swords and gold medals.

A samurai sword is awarded to all non-expert Children & Teen division champions, a custom gold medal is awarded to all non-expert Adult division winners and silver & bronze medals are awarded to 2nd & 3rd place adult division winners.

These prizes are the highest awards offered at any tournament. They are unrivaled in quality and appearance.

Championship Belts are awarded to all Youth, Teen, Adult, Masters, Director, and Executive division champions, as well as BJJ purple, brown and black belt division champions.

The belt system in BJJ is one of the most important signs of knowledge, tradition, honor and progression. It represents your hard work and commitment to learning the art of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. It also serves as a practical weapon to protect your Gi and demonstrate your skill.

For a competitive athlete, obtaining the next belt rank is an exciting goal. However, it is also a lot of hard work and requires a substantial amount of time and dedication.

In order to reach this next rank, you must be dedicated to training and improving your game. You must be willing to learn new techniques, develop a deeper understanding of your opponent’s strengths and weaknesses, and improve on your own techniques. You must also be willing to accept a certain level of pain and frustration as you advance in your journey to the next belt rank.

NAGA offers a number of different types of memberships to meet the needs of all students. For example, there are junior memberships available for children and teens under the age of 18.

There is also a senior category, for adults over the age of 35. During this period, members receive a discounted initiation fee and monthly dues, until they reach the age of 36.

The senior category is designed to help members stay active and participate in a wide variety of activities. In addition, it provides a chance to network with fellow members and instructors in the area.

Another benefit of senior membership is that it allows students to purchase a single martial arts belt for less than the regular price. This means that students can save money and increase their chances of earning a black belt.

In addition, members are able to use their membership card for discounted tickets and admissions to various events. For instance, a student can use their membership card to receive admission for the day of the event for $5, instead of paying full price.

A member can bring one guest per visit, as long as they have not played the course more than twice in a 30 day period. In addition, a junior member can invite one guest to the course, as long as the guest is under the age of 18.

On top of these benefits, members are also eligible for a 10% discount on all merchandise purchased from Naga. This includes t-shirts, bags, and other gear.

Additionally, NAGA is committed to helping the community and is happy to offer a range of financial aid programs for families in need. For more information, please contact the Naga office.
